How freebie sites work
How can sites give away free gifts? You sign up for a free offer through an affiliate marketing company, called FreebieJeebies. You then get 14 of your friends to sign up for a free offer under you unique referral number.
FJ earns a commission for every person they get to sign up to any particular offer. They use this commission to pay for your free 3G iPhone 2.0.
The Economics FJ get 15 people signed up to a two week free trial of an offer, e.g. LoveFilm, the online DVD rental company. There is no fee paying obligation to stay on with LoveFilm, but at least now LoveFilm has you potential custom.
If 2 people decided that they liked LoveFilm then they would stay on. 2 people at £9.99 a month for one year would bring the company close to £240, easily enough to pay for your 3g iPhone.
